Reaching out with God's love to impact lives

About Our Community

The Foothills family worships at a campus, located on the corner of Foothills Blvd. and 40th Street in the east side of Yuma, Arizona. This has been the home of Foothills since 1970. Back then, there were very few residents in the Foothills area. Today, the population is estimated around 30,000. While portions of our community lie within city limits, the majority of the Foothills is outside of city limits in Yuma County.
According to, Yuma is the largest city in Arizona outside the metro areas of Phoenix and Tucson and is the 11th largest city in the state with an estimated population of 93,064 (2010 Census). Yuma County has an estimated population of 195,751 (2010 Census).  Yuma is located near the confluence of the Gila and Colorado Rivers in the southwest corner of the state, on the border with California and near the border with Mexico (the state of Sonora lies to our south, Baja California to the west). Yuma is nearly equidistant between Phoenix (178 miles) and San Diego (180 miles). Interstate 8 runs through Yuma. Highway 95 runs north to Interstate 10 and south to the Mexican border. Yuma holds the Guinness World Record as the sunniest city on Earth, with sunshine 91 percent of daylight hours. Yuma's average annual rainfall is around three inches a year, and humidity is generally low except during the summer monsoon season (July & August). Nights can be cool during the winter, but hard freezes are rare. Our high temperatures range from an average of 68 degrees in January to an average of 106 in July. Agriculture, military, and tourism are three of the biggest industries in Yuma. Our population nearly doubles during the peak travel months of January - March.
The Foothills area in particular sees much of the influx of winter visitors, greatly increasing the population of the area and the attendance within the church for the months of October - April. The Foothills area has a population of 26,265 (2010 census) which increases significantly during the winter months.
More information about the Foothills area can be found in this demographics report.
